August 2013 Stats & September Goals

Starting weight : 161.8 lb

Ending weight : 154.8 lb

Change : 7 lb lost (average 1.65lb lost per week)

This time last year : 171.8 lb (13 weeks pregnant)

This has easily been the biggest month of weight loss since Izzie was born (excluding March when she was born).  7lbs in one month is crazy and certainly not something I can expect all the time.  I'm sure some of it was rebound from getting back in the gym and working out after the beach and also after the funeral.  Nothing works better for weight loss than getting off track for a few days then getting back on.  Most weight loss plans have a "cheat day" and that's exactly why.

With only 6.6lbs til pre-Germany weight and four months to get there, I think it's time to scale back the monthly goals.  I will only be breastfeeding part time when we start solids in a week, so the weight is sure to come of more slowly after that.  I'm not even going to shoot for a pound per week this month.  There are four weigh-ins for September and I'd like to lose 3lbs.

Something that helps you along the way is taking pictures along with measurements.  I took the top set 6 weeks after Izzie on my first day back in the gym (179.4lbs).  The middle set was 16 weeks after Izzie when I had reached below pre-pregnancy weight (167lbs).  The bottom set was last night at 26 weeks after Izzie and back at Lifetime weight (154.8lbs).  It's hard to see a change in the day to day, but looking at it like this helps reaffirm that changes are happening.

April 2012 Stats

Starting weight : 158.2 lb

Ending weight : 164.4 lb

Change : 6.2 lb gained (average 1.5 lb gained per week)

This time last year : 168.6 lb

It really sucks that I'm almost even with where I was last year.  I really don't want to see my weight this year be higher than it was a year ago.  I hate that a lot of my clothes don't fit and I didn't have the foresight to bring my clothes from last summer, instead of buying new smaller ones.  I've never really seen the numbers go up this fast except that one summer between 8th and 9th grades where I went up 30lb.  I feel helpless and just want to be home so I can turn this around.  I constantly feel uncomfortable and am always thinking about what others must be thinking of me.  I know that these past few months have shown that I'm human.  I know that when I started this blog, I was working really hard and losing almost every week and now I'm gaining beyond control. May is full of so many trips and celebrations, I just hope the numbers don't get too far out of control.  At this point, there's no way I can take off the weight as fast as I've been putting it on.

February 2012 Stats

Starting weight : 150.0 lb

Ending weight : 154.0 lb

Change : 4 lb gained (average 1 lb gained per week)

This time last year : 170.8 lb

I'm not very happy with this month.  I've had a little bit of trouble adjusting to the food situation here in Germany, and I hope I will be able to change things and get back to where I was.  The last time I gained this much in a single month, I was pregnant with Brady, so that number is very hard to see.

January 2012 Stats

Starting weight : 148.2 lb

Ending weight : 150.0 lb

Change : 1.8 lb gained (average 0.42 lb gained per week)

This time last year : 173 lb

I can honestly say that I'm pleased with this month's result. I know my goal was to get back to 148.2lb, but having only gained 1.8lb from the holidays is a win, no matter which way you look at it. Now, we move on to next month!

December 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 150.4 lb

Ending weight : 148.2 lb

Change : 2.2 lb lost (average 0.52 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 173 lb

Considering my goal for the month was to maintain, I am very pleased to have lost 2.2lb. With the holidays, it's nice to have a little buffer. It was a great feeling to leave the 150s behind and gain a little more confidence in myself.

November 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 152.0 lb

Ending weight : 150.4 lb

Change : 1.6 lb lost (average 0.38 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 172.4 lb

This was a rough month with several trips, but getting back in the gym help kept any gains at bay. 1.6lb is a good monthly loss, so nothing to complain about here! My goal for the month was to hit 150lb, and I came pretty darn close. Can't wait to get into the 140s!!

October 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 153.4 lb

Ending weight : 152.0 lb

Change : 1.4 lb lost (average 0.32 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 173.8 lb

I am 1 week of "maintain" away from becoming an official lifetime member! I can't believe I've made it this far. It's a dream come true and someday I will be able to work at weight watchers part-time and help change the lives of others. After several big months of weight loss, this month is more typical with 1.4lb lost in the whole month. I missed my month's goal of hitting 151lb, by 1lb, but I'm not too upset.

September 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 157.8 lb

Ending weight : 153.4 lb

Change : 4.4 lb lost (average 1.04 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 177.2 lb

I thought last month was huge with 3.8lb lost. I never anticipated hitting goal a week early and then pushing past it so far to lose 4.4lb this month! It's really hard to imagine that time time last year I was up almost 25lbs from here. My clothes fit better and I've needed smaller sizes, but since I'm the same person on the inside, it's hard to remember feeling differently at that weight. My life was all about Brady then and it is now. I'm anticipating a move just like I was then. My life is all about uncertainty.

August 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 161.6 lb

Ending weight : 157.8 lb

Change : 3.8 lb lost (average .85 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 179.2 lb

My goal for this month was super ambitious and was to hit 157.4lb, which is my lowest ever on weight watchers. This would have meant I needed over 1lb lost per week average. It didn't happen, but I came pretty close. If I'd managed to maintain the one week I gained 0.4lb, I would have hit it on the nose, but I can't say that I'm ungrateful. I had a pretty rough two weeks at the end of the month and only made it to the gym one time. I also lost 3.8lb for the month which is the most I've lost in a single month since May 2010, when I was still breastfeeding, so that's a big accomplishment.

June 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 165.2 lb

Ending weight: 162.6

Change: 2.6 lb lost (average 0.6 lb lost per week)

This time last year: 183 lb

Overall, this has been a good month. Honestly, any month with a net loss is a good month. 0.6lb is an amazing weekly average. I have no illusions of losing several pounds a week because it's completely unrealistic to sustain that amount of loss. Slow and steady is the only way to do it. People get frustrated when they see only 0.2lb lost in a week, but they need to realize that the weight didn't come on overnight and will take time to come off. Any amount lost is a victory, as is a maintain. It's just so easy to have a gain.

June had its challenges and triumphs. I reached my pre-pregnancy weight, and then lost more. That was a huge milestone for me after 16 months. The challenge was that I had my first gain since April 2. It was only 0.2lb but it almost shatters your confidence when you've been on such a hot streak. Since April 2, I have lost 10lb. That's the fastest I've lost 10lb since the month after I had Brady. It was surprising and exciting to have lost that much in less than 3 months because my goal was 0.5lb lost per week. If I had only done that, I would be 166.6lb, a whole 4lb more than I currently weigh.

Last night, Andy got a DVD in the mail. It was a movie about a high school wrestler whose dad was the coach. About half way through the film, Andy asked me to look at the logo in the gym and sure enough it was Wash High (where Andy went to school). I had been watching the outside scenes and hadn't even realized they were shooting this movie in Wash Pa. Andy said he knew the main wrestler and all the other wrestlers were kids at his school as well. He even pointed out some of his friends as extras. The wrestler was always being pushed by his dad to make weight for the most competitive weight class (119lb). I was shocked at this weight because that's the minimum healthy weight for someone who is 5'4". These kids were certainly taller than that. There was constant pressure from their coaches and parents to make weight, to the point where they were only eating two days after the match and starving and dehydrating themselves the remaining 5 days. The main character was practically bulimic just so he wouldn't have to let down his dad. Towards the end, he collapsed and ended up in the hospital with a slew of health issues that were from starving himself practically to death. This was the wake up call the kid needed to realize he was living his dad's dream and not his. A note at the end of the movie said that rules have changed and such low weights are no longer required for the safety of the athletes. It made me so angry that parents were encouraging their children to starve just for a sport.

Tonight is my last night in the gym before Saturday's weigh in, so I need to make it count. I am down a bit since last Saturday, but that's not a guarantee that it'll still be a loss this week.
