Biggest Loser Finale

Tonight at 9PM on NBC is the Biggest Loser season finale. In September when it started, I mentioned to all of you that my goal every season is to feel good about myself at the end, when the contestants are at their final weights. I also vowed that this season was going to be the season when I did feel good about myself at finale. I think I may have finally achieved that goal! When I made that vow in September, I weighed 154.6lb and now I am exactly 5lb lighter at 149.6lb.

Many nights, watching the show, I would feel even better about myself because I had been in the gym that night or the previous night and I didn't feel like a huge hypocrite sitting on my butt watching a show where people are trying to change their lives and working out like crazy. Getting under the 150lb mark has really helped to strengthen my confidence and I'm starting to feel better about my image every single day.

This season, the final three are all men, but that doesn't mean there aren't going to be some women who went home that will give me a run for my money. There was a woman (in the older age group of the three groups, so over 50), who was at 162lb when she got kicked off right before the final three. She could easily pass me up. There are also one or two women who looked really good when they showed up for the marathon. I'll be excited to see how I stack up and really excited to see who the winner is this season! For those of you who also watch, I am rooting for Ramon. I think he got a pretty unfair deal on the ranch and having won his spot in the finale by way of winning the marathon, makes me feel like he deserves it more. He is the proof that you can go home and make it happen.

The "Skinny" on Points Plus 2012

I have now been to a weigh-in and have the new materials on the new Points Plus 2012 program. They switched things over online on December 2 and in meetings on December 4. The day they switched online, I noticed my points had dropped from 29 per day (the old low) to 26 per day (the new low). This means that I have 21 less points over the course of the week, which is nice on the days where I have trouble eating all my points and less points can only mean great results!

Most people's daily points plus targets haven't changed and there is now the option to change your daily points plus target +/- 3 depending on the results you're seeing. The only people who can't move theirs down are the people like me who are already at 26 points plus per day. That is the absolute lowest. I have the option to go back to 29, but I think 26 might be a better fit for me and everyone is different.

Basically, the Points Plus 2012 program is just a few tweaks on the old Points Plus program we all know and love. Aside from the ability to alter your daily points plus target, the etools online have been revamped to make it more user friendly. Those etools are now free for lifetime members. What happens is each month you weigh-in within 2lb of your goal weight, you receive a voucher with an access code you use online, which will give you free etools for 8 weeks. You must enter a new access code before that one expires or they will charge the card they have on file. It shouldn't be hard to enter a new code in time, since you get a new one each month. Of course, if you are more than 2lb above your goal, you won't get a new code and you have to pay for that week.

Another little tweak is that you are able to set a activity points goal for each week. Activity points are calculated by your weight and the intensity of the activity. For inactive people, their weekly activity points goal is set for 14 (or 2 per day). 2 activity points per day can be as little as 30 minutes of walking for some people and will get them more active. Since I'm already active, my activity points goal is 22 and I hit that last week. This week, I hope to surpass that.

Weigh-in for 12/10/2011 - Goodbye 150s!!!

Last weigh-in (11/19/2011) : 150.4 lb

This weigh-in (12/10/2011) : 149.6 lb

Change : 0.8 lb lost

A lot has happened in the last three weeks since my last weigh-in. We had back to back weekend trips. One going home for Thanksgiving and then to Disney. We have eaten on the road more times than I'd like to count and the food we ate in Disney wasn't the healthiest. However, in the past three weeks, I've made a good effort to be in the gym and I think that has something to do with a loss instead of a maintain or gain. Of course, the fat girl inside me is thinking that since I lost, I could have eaten more when I was away, but those thoughts have to be crushed immediately ;)

Being in the 140s is AMAZING!!! I can't believe I finally made it there! The 150s were great for a while, but I definitely "outgrew" them. It's great noticing how my clothes are starting to get too big. Like with the 150s, I haven't been in the 140s since the summer of 2000, almost half my life! I can't wait to keep pushing forward and I hope to see the 130s soon!

December 2011 Goals

This month is tough for anyone, myself included. Personally, we have a trip to Disney this weekend, a trip to Atlanta to see the Georgia Aquarium, a Christmas party, and of course a trip home for Christmas. My goal for this month is simple: maintain. I think the only way to achieve this goal is to spend as much time in the gym as possible. We also are coming up on our big move, so this will be the last month I have access to a gym until we get over there and settled. That means I have to make it count. This month we will have the big reveal of Points Plus 2012 and hopefully the changes will boost my weight loss.

November 2011 Stats

Starting weight : 152.0 lb

Ending weight : 150.4 lb

Change : 1.6 lb lost (average 0.38 lb lost per week)

This time last year : 172.4 lb

This was a rough month with several trips, but getting back in the gym help kept any gains at bay. 1.6lb is a good monthly loss, so nothing to complain about here! My goal for the month was to hit 150lb, and I came pretty darn close. Can't wait to get into the 140s!!

Coming Soon - Points Plus 2012

This morning I received an email from Weight Watchers informing me that the new Points Plus 2012 program will begin on December 4. As I've mentioned before, Weight Watchers is always evolving the program to make it the easiest and most efficient for members. This will be the 4th change since I've been a member.

The email gave away very little on the details on the new program, but there were a few details that I will share with you all. They are working on making the program more customizable since everyone is different. They mentioned that there will be more flexibility in how you are able to spend your Points Plus budget. They also stated that there will be the possibility of taking a break from tracking for a day or two (most likely similar to what I refer to as my "cheat days"). There will also be upgrades to the activity points and more support on how to reach your exercise goals. The tools available online to members will also be changed to help maximize the benefits.

Like I said, these are not extensive details, but on December 4, they will become fully explained to all members. I will be away at that time, so I probably won't get the info until Monday night at the earliest, and whatever I don't learn online via etools, I will learn on December 10, when I go in to weigh-in.
