May 2013 Stats & June Goals

Starting weight : 177.8 lb

Ending weight : 172.4 lb

Change : 5.4 lb lost (average 1.2lb lost per week)

This time last year : 166 lb

The goal for May was to lose 5lbs and I surpassed that with a lot of hours in the gym.  Each week had at least a 1lb loss and most weeks it was more than that.  I know that I won't be exclusively breastfeeding forever and once Izzie starts solids in three months, I'll lose a good amount of points plus per day from my daily target in addition to burning less calories from it per day.  That means I have to take advantage of every moment I'm still breastfeeding as it speeds up the weight loss.  I knew I could eat more and get away with it after Brady so I played around and didn't buckle down like I am now.

June will have five Saturdays and I want to average 1lb per week and have a total of 5lbs yet again.  That would put me below my pre-pregnancy weight with Izzie, which was 168lbs.  That would be a major accomplishment as she's just about to turn three months old and Brady was 16 months old when I got all of his pregnancy weight off.

The major goal is get back to my lowest by Christmas and to do that, I need to average 0.8lbs per week.  It's very doable and I feel my clothes getting looser all the time.  Just the other day I tried on a pair of size 12 bermuda shorts that I had tried on three weeks prior and couldn't get zipped up.  Not only could I get them zipped up, but I had no muffin top.  They were still a little snug so I need to lose some more before I start wearing them again, but I know that before summer is over they'll be on again and comfortable.

Weigh-in for 5/23/2013

Last weigh-in (5/18/2013) : 173.4 lb

This weigh-in (5/23/2013) : 172.4 lb

Change : 1 lb lost

Total loss postpartum : 28lb of 32.4lb gained

Amount needed to get back to WW lifetime weight : 17.4 lbs

It hasn't been a full week since my last weigh-in, but we will be home over the weekend, with a grad party Friday night, so a Saturday weigh-in wouldn't be quite accurate. I weighed myself on my home scale which can be anywhere from 0.6lbs below the WW scale or 0.2lbs up from it, so I decided not to try and adjust it and just deal with the adjustment next week when I get back on their scales.  1lb in a short week isn't half bad.

Weigh-in for 5/18/2013

Last weigh-in (5/11/2013) : 175 lb

This weigh-in (5/18/2013) : 173.4 lb

Change : 1.6 lb lost

Total loss postpartum : 27lb of 32.4lb gained

Amount needed to get back to WW lifetime weight : 18.4 lbs

I am again very pleased with this week's number.  The start of the week was rough with two birthday parties on Saturday and then we ate out twice on Sunday for Mother's Day and Andy's birthday.  The rest of the week has been devoted to the gym and staying perfectly on my points.  It's way more important to be good the second half of the week than the first half.  I have one more weigh-in for the month and to reach my goal of 5lbs, I only need to lose 0.4lb.  I'm hoping for more ;)

Andy went from 225.8lbs last week to 224.6lbs this week.  I'm hoping he can stay on track a little better instead of gaining and losing the same pound over and over.

May 2013 Measurements

Hips
  •  Last month (4/13/2013) - 47 inches
  •  This month (5/10/2013) - 46.5 inches

Waist
  •  Last month (4/13/2013) - 36 inches
  •  This month (5/10/2013) - 34 inches

Thighs
  •   Last month (4/13/2013) - 24.5 inches each
  •   This month (5/10/2013) - 23.75 inches each

I've definitely noticed a change in the way my clothes have been fitting during the past month and have been able to move from my maternity pants to my "fat" pants.  Even though they're my bigger clothes, it's a step in the right direction.  I've spent the last four weeks since last month's measurements in the gym 2-3 times per week.  That certainly helps not only the weight come off a little bit faster, but also the inches come off.  I've lost a good bit of weight before and if I'm not in the gym, my shape doesn't change much.  I HATE working out during the workout, but feel amazing afterwards and love the results, so I make myself do it.  I wish I was one of those people who stayed thin without it, but I'm not.

The biggest change in the last month has been the waist measurement (loss of 2 inches) and I'm not too surprised.  The stretched skin going back into place is helping in addition to working out.  There's still some loose skin, but in time it will go back to normal, just like it did after Brady.  I wish the hip measurement change (loss of 0.5 inch) was more because that's my main problem area, but I'll keep working out and it will change.  I was very pleased with the thigh change (0.75 inch per thigh).  I've been adding a few new weight machines that I think have made a huge difference there.

The measurements are still a bit off in correlation with my weight from previous gains. The last time I was at these measurements was when I weighed 183lbs, exactly 8lbs higher than where I am now (last month the measurements were 10lbs off).  The last time I was at my current weight (175), my hips were 45 inches and my waist was 32 inches.

Weigh-in for 5/11/2013

Last weigh-in (5/4/2013) : 176.4 lb

This weigh-in (5/11/2013) : 175 lb

Change : 1.4 lb lost

Total loss postpartum : 25.4lb of 32.4lb gained

Amount needed to get back to WW lifetime weight : 20 lbs

Another week I'm very happy with.  I was in the gym the full three days I set out to this week for the first time since the first week back.  I went through and packed up all my maternity clothes (with the exception of a few items) and went through my fat clothes box to see what would fit me.  Although I was saddened to see that my size 16s were fitting, it was nice to try on some things I wore right after Brady and they were too loose.

While weighing-in this morning someone said (and it's not the first time it's happened) that I don't even look like I've had a baby.  I smile and say thank you, but it's so hard for me not to tell them I've been working on this for seven long years and I wasn't just some skinny girl who had a baby and is trying to lose the extra bit of fluff.  It's getting better and I've lost a little over 25lbs, but I'm still 20lbs overweight so in my mind it's hard to accept that people think I look good when I feel so blah.  On a positive note, the loss this week made me low enough to lose another point plus off of my daily target.  I'm still struggling to hit my daily target on normal days (even harder on gym days), so one less to eat each day is a small relief.

Andy went up 1.8lbs this week to 225.8lbs.  He went to the gym three times, but I only see one of his meals per day, so I'm not sure what he's eating the rest of the day that's causing him to gain.

Weigh-in for 5/4/2013

Last weigh-in (4/27/2013) : 177.8 lb

This weigh-in (5/4/2013) : 176.4 lb

Change : 1.4 lb lost

Total loss postpartum : 24lb of 32.4lb gained

Amount needed to get back to WW lifetime weight : 21.4 lbs

I am very happy with the number this week.  The last month was alternating every week between a big number and a small number, so it was good to get two bigger numbers in a row.  I love watching the numbers go lower and chip away at the pregnancy weight (only 8.4lbs of that to go).

There were some mixed feelings this week.  I LOVE wearing dresses in the summer but my daughter (who we call Princess Priss) has decided she will refuse all bottles.  That means dress options are limited as I'm unwilling to pull the whole thing up to nurse.  I mean, my undies would be showing to the whole world, so it's just a no go.  We have so many events in the next two months that I went ahead a bought a few nursing dresses.  They came last Saturday and when I tried them on, I felt pretty lousy about myself.  I had to buy larges because I knew mediums wouldn't fit my bust due to nursing.  They fit in the bust, were huge in the waist, then hugged my huge hips.  I felt like I was wearing a pillowcase.

On the other hand, I needed some nicer dresses for other events like beach pictures, family portraits, and Izzie's baptism.  The nursing dresses are just stretchy cotton so they wouldn't work even if they fit well.  I looked a few dresses online and went to find them in the store to try on as many stores are having Mothers Day sales.  I found a gorgeous multi-blue maxi dress for beach portraits and was thrilled when I got into a 12.  It might not seem like a big accomplishment, but I was wearing 14s until Brady was almost 1.  Just today, I was still on the hunt for a pink dress for family portraits and found the one that I had wanted online.  They only had a 10 and an 18 on the racks, but I knew they carried all the in between sizes online, so I decided to try the 10 on and see how much more room I needed.  The 10 fit!  I was on such a high until I saw my backside in the mirror while taking it off.  I still have a lot to lose to get back to where I looked good.  If I continue to lose 1lb per week average, I'll be there by Christmas.

This week also marked my 7 year anniversary with Weight Watchers.  It certainly doesn't feel like it's been 7 years and that's almost 1/4 of my life.  I'll be on it for the rest of my life, but it's my way of life and never a burden.\

Andy lost 1lb this week so he's now down to 224lbs.
